On November 15th, I’ll be taking the red dot stage at TEDx Round Rock Women, joining an incredible lineup of speakers exploring the TEDx theme of “Ideas Worth Spreading” through the lens of this event's theme "Own It!".

My talk, “AI Can’t Replace This: Why Arts Education Matters,” challenges the belief that academic and career-specific skills are the best (and in some cases only) way to prepare students for the future. As artificial intelligence continues to change the job landscape, human skills like creativity, communication, collaboration and grit are becoming more valuable than ever — and the best place to build them is through visual and performing arts education.

This message is especially close to my heart as a parent, advocate, and lifelong believer in the transformative power of the arts. I’ll share stories, data, and a few surprises to show why and how we can move these arts programs from “nice to have” to essential for preparing our kids to thrive in an AI-driven world.
