Service Description

In this age of AI, the human skills that are taught in visual and performing arts programs are essential for every student regardless of career choice. However many view these courses as "extra" and not a vital part of college, career and military readiness (CCMR). We know these courses are building more than great dancers, artists and musicians, but do preK and elementary parents? education decision makers? MS/HS parents? Fine arts advocacy must be year-round and built into the culture. Teachers can’t do this alone. By coordinating students, parents, and alumni from all of the fine arts disciplines and arming them with consistent, unified messaging, we can build strong advocates, boost recruitment, and protect arts programs. In this session, attendees will learn strategies on how and why we need to engage parents, students and the overall community in advocacy and participate in a group discussion on different ideas from across the state.
